Global Community Christian Church was birthed into the heart of Matthew J. Hough while attending Mercer University, McAfee School of Theology in 2013. While knowing God called me to the preaching and pastoral ministry, I did not know what that looked like or when exactly it would be. I was attending seminary just trying to get through and low and behold, the Holy Spirit took me back to experiences I had while I was in the world, on mission for the Lord and while in seminary. I also came across this passage of scripture in Galatians 3:28 which reads, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus (NASB).” Each experience spoke to a ‘global’ and ‘inclusive’ perspective I gained while in the Navy, while serving on missionary journeys to Africa and while matriculating through seminary.

Global Community Christian Church evolved from those personal experiences and also spoke to how I saw and viewed our church. gc3, as we are affectionately known, was born! We began our ‘Word on Wednesday’ Bible Study as a community on May 3, 2017 and Sunday Worship began Resurrection Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the AWAKE Coffee Company located in historic downtown Conyers, GA.
